Matt Lingafelter

Churchill Assistant Principal

Professional Experience, Achievements, and Goals

Mr. Matt Lingafelter will begin this school year as the new Assistant Principal at Churchill Junior High School. Mr. Lingafelter earned a Bachelor's degree in 1994 from Quincy University, and went on to earn his Leadership degree from St. Ambrose University in 2011. Mr. Lingafelter was both an Academic Scholar and a 4 year Football player in college.

Mr. Lingafelter started his career in education as a Fourth Grade teacher at North Wayne School District (1994-1997) where he also coached multiple sports. He then moved to Galesburg and taught 5th grade at Nielson School in Galesburg, while he continued coaching (1997-2007). In 2007, Mr. Lingafelter became an Outreach Worker at Nielson Elementary School in Galesburg. He moved on to become the Principal at Steele Elementary School from 2011-2018.

The desire to help others drives Mr. Lingafelter’s efforts. He continually strives to meet the needs of staff, students, and parents. Mr. Lingafelter is committed to fostering continual learning while embedding social-emotional learning within the academic day. He has a strong belief these efforts support a healthy school system and society. Mr. Lingafelter values the multiple relationships he has gained with people from a variety of backgrounds.

Personal Information

Matt and his wife, Kristen, have traveled through life together for 24 years. Their journey has brought them four children, three of which are Galesburg graduates and one who will begin her freshman year in 2018.  

Mr. Lingafelter is originally from Aledo, Illinois. In his spare time, Matt enjoys watching TED Talks. He is also an avid outdoorsman who loves being on the river.
