Galesburg Junior Senior High School partnered with Carl Sandburg College on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, to offer the Promise Workshop. All graduating seniors completing the Carl Sandburg College Application were invited to the Promise Workshop.
Successful completion includes Promise application submission as well as Carl Sandburg College’s Scholarship application. Students in attendance were directed through five stations in an effort to make the process run smoothly.
Family Engagement Specialist, Stephanie Woodard shared, “This was really the final step of an ongoing college readiness process that has taken place throughout the entire fall semester. Mr. Bredemeier and I were able to help 65 seniors complete their Carl Sandburg application in late October. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Night was also held in October and hosted on the same evening as Parent/Teacher conferences. Finally, we wanted interested students to complete the Promise Application so they are provided a cost-effective opportunity for post-secondary education."
The Promise Workshop helped 81 seniors successfully submit Galesburg Promise applications and Carl Sandburg College scholarship applications.
