Jim Smith, Galesburg High School Class of 1976, had a love for music that began at a young age and continued throughout his entire life. He not only appreciated listening to music, but he also enjoyed playing his guitar and keyboard.
He instilled his love for music onto his daughters, Kimmie and Karie, and his granddaughter, Sid. Because of this, Jim’s legacy will continue to inspire young aspiring musicians at schools in Galesburg CUSD #205. His family decided to honor his memory by "Playing It Forward". The family collected donations and recently purchased 6 clarinets for CUSD #205 students to be used in the music program.
The family would like to thank all those who donated to make this possible in Jim’s memory.
A special thanks to Dave Plunk at Music Makers for making this come together. The family would also like to thank Buddes for holding his ‘Celebration of Life’ and continued assistance with future fundraising for "Playing It Forward".
This program will continue with the support of our community and all who love Jim. For continued monetary donations please submit checks to Music Makers in memory of Jim Smith, and look for future fundraising events for "Playing It Forward".
